How to apply
Step 1:
Check out our course catalogue for options available to Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD and teacher training students. Don’t forget to read the prerequisites and course schedules carefully to ensure you are a suitable candidate!
Step 2:
Once you have chosen your courses of interest, apply via the VIP & VEEP online application form starting from June 12 until July 31. Do not miss the application deadline on the 31th of July, 2026 at exactly 4pm (16:00 o'clock) (time frame CEST (UTC+2) Central European Summer Time).
Please take note that uploading your Certificate of Enrolment from your home university is mandatory.
Uploading the Transcript of Records is voluntary but it will reduce your chances of getting accepted into the courses by the lecturers if you do not provide one!
Step 3:
Now, wait for our feedback! Whether you are accepted or not, you will receive a separate response for each course you apply to.
Please keep an eye on the email address you used for your application. The lecturers will need a few weeks after the application deadline in order to accept/reject students to their courses. We will then be able to inform you regarding the next necessary steps - Enrolment!
Step 4:
If you are accepted into at least one of the courses you applied for, you will receive a step-by-step guide for enrolment at JLU. This process is mandatory, fully digital, and free of charge!

What's next?
After you have submitted a complete application, including all required documents within the application deadline, your application is forwarded to the respective lecturer(s) of your course(s), who will then provide us with the final decision of the admissions. Please note that the admission process might take up to several weeks. You will then receive separate feedback emails regarding each course that you applied for. Please remember to check your inbox thoroughly including the spam and junk folder. Once you have been accepted to one of our courses, you will receive instructions for the enrolment process via email. Please complete the enrolment by the due date mentioned in the email. At the end of successful enrolment, you will have your JLU account (your J-identification and a password you set yourself), which you can then use to log onto JLU's electronic systems like Stud.IP and ILIAS.
