How to apply

Step 1:

Check out our course catalogue for options available to Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD and teacher training students. Don’t forget to read the prerequisites and course schedules carefully to ensure you are a suitable candidate!

Step 2:

Once you have chosen your courses of interest, apply via the VIP & VEEP online application form starting from June 12 until July 31.  Do not miss the application deadline on the 31th of July, 2026 at exactly 4pm  (16:00 o'clock) (time frame CEST (UTC+2) Central European Summer Time).

Please take note that uploading your Certificate of Enrolment from your home university is mandatory.

Uploading the Transcript of Records is voluntary but it will reduce your chances of getting accepted into the courses by the lecturers if you do not provide one!

Step 3:

Now, wait for our feedback! Whether you are accepted or not, you will receive a separate response for each course you apply to.

Please keep an eye on the email address you used for your application. The lecturers will need a few weeks after the application deadline in order to accept/reject students to their courses. We will then be able to inform you regarding the next necessary steps - Enrolment!

Step 4:

If you are accepted into at least one of the courses you applied for, you will receive a step-by-step guide for enrolment at JLU. This process is mandatory, fully digital, and free of charge!

The VIP offered me a learning experience where physical distance was no longer a barrier. As a Justus Liebig University student, being able to make full use of the university’s virtual academic opportunities made a significant contribution to my research. The resources I could access, coupled with a strong culture of discussion, were especially valuable in this regard. What I especially appreciated was the opportunity to learn from such knowledgeable instructors in a truly international classroom. The exchange of perspectives with students from diverse backgrounds created a productive and genuinely eye-opening environment. I would also like to thank the JLU VIP team for their constant support and for resolving any issues we encountered so quickly. It’s been a pleasure being part of this community!

Participating in the VIP programme was a very enriching experience. The mentoring, sense of community, and academic exchange helped me feel supported and motivated throughout the semester. I especially appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and the opportunity to connect with students from different backgrounds. The programme made my academic journey more meaningful and enjoyable.

Because of the corona, I canceled my Erasmus in Germany. After learning about the VIP, I got the chance to be a student in Germany again thanks to JLU.
Being a VIP student was an amazing journey. I feel that I am a part of the JLU family.

I'm very grateful to be a virtual student because I get to make more friends and learn things I'm interested in.
I always thought of it as a great chance to broaden my horizons. I believe this experience indeed opens up new opportunities to access new knowledge.

JLU did a magnificent job! Going abroad to study has always been my dream but I never imagined to “study abroad” from the comfort of my own home.
From the very start the International Office and the professors of the courses were there for us. With friends from all over the world we moved through the semester, shared our ups, downs, stress and joy.

I've been able to learn and grow with the program. I took part in cultural and feminist courses as a way to make me a better global citizen.
VIP gave me an opportunity very few African students get, a European feel of university life. And it didn't costs cent.

I took part in courses that were related to English Linguistics, and I can say with all my heart that it was the best experience for me so far. What I liked about this programme was the flow of courses, flexibility, and how convenient the courses were.

Lots of thanks to JLU for letting me feel your atmosphere of understanding, tolerance and activism. I am grateful not only for courses I have attended but also for different invitations to open lectures on law. It was a pleasure to work and study with you.
