How to enrol
Dear VIP/VEEP student, please note that you can start your enrolment at Justus Liebig University only when you have successfully finished the application process and received the acceptance e-mails from us. Afterwards, please start with your enrolment. Moreover, in case you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

- Step 1: Enrol via GUDE
First of all, make sure you’ve received an e-mail with a username from international.admission. It was sent to the email address you during your application, so check your inbox (and spam folder, just in case!). You'll need to create your own password here. Then, head over to gude.uni-giessen.de, fill out the form, and upload your documents. After you’re officially enrolled, your matriculation number will show up in the GUDE portal. It starts with 8****** and is also called your registration number. Keep it safe, you'll need it soon!
- Step 2: Create your login credentials
Now the fun starts! After enrolment, you’ll get an e-mail from iam.uni-giessen.de. It explains how to set up your password for logging into all JLU systems. Follow the link to the IAM portal, where you’ll find your J-Identification. Then set your new password (this one will be used everywhere – Stud.IP, ILIAS, email, etc.).
- Step 3: Log into JLU platforms
Once your login is ready, you’re officially good to go! 🎉To access JLU platforms, use your J-Number (something like J_XXXXXX) plus the password you just created in the IAM portal (not the one-time password!).
