Course Description

Would you like to try out how it feels to learn German? Would you like to read your first short texts in German and understand simple movies in German? Would you like to learn the basics of German grammar? Would you like to learn some interesting facts about student life in Giessen?
Then sign up for our virtual taster course! As a fully digitalized offer, it will be possible to learn independently at the desired pace at a time of your own choosing. The course is for absolute beginners without any knowledge of German. It covers the basics of German at A0 level. 
48 hours of independent work, which means at least 4 hours of independent work per week. 

Attention: The active and completely independent participation in the course is an important prerequisite for the course participation! We reserve the right to remove participants from the course if they do not actively participate in the course!

You have already attended German courses at A1.1 level and can't get enough? Do you want to keep practising or simply repeat the basics? Then this offer is just right for you! You can work on, repeat and deepen the content at your own pace at the time of your choice.

The course covers the basics of A1.1 level and offers in-depth opportunities for students who have already attended an A1.1-course and achieved very good grades. As a fully digitalised offer, it will be possible to study independently at the desired rhythm at a time of your own choice.
48 hours of independent work, which means at least 4 hours of independent work per week.

Course Description

The programme is aimed at the course-independent, predominantly self-directed expansion of language skills in the relevant language, focus and level in a language tandem partnership.

The students
•can set learning goals individually and cooperatively, find suitable learning strategies and apply them in practice;
•expand their language skills according to the agreed language, focus and level and support their tandem partner accordingly;
•identify problems on their learning path, can use suitable learning materials and obtain targeted feedback in order to plan the next steps for effective individual and joint further learning;
•document their language learning experiences in the agreed learning language in a learning diary and a progress report throughout the semester, thereby making their learning processes visible to themselves and others;
•reflect on their learning activities and thus consciously improve their language learning skills;
•take responsibility for their own and co-operative learning in a language tandem partnership;
•reflect on and develop their own communication and interaction skills in intercultural and international contexts;
•can utilise the skills they have acquired for future cooperative (language) learning situations.
